A quick overview of the items that I currently run on my network. Specs of the machines and a quick description are included.
Current number of items stands at: 9
SRV-01
Dell Poweredge T330
Windows Server 2019
32GB RAM
Intel Xeon E3-1240 v5 @ 3.50GHz
Pushes close to 11TBs of storage. Hosts all of my virtualized machines and responsible for any hard data jobs like recovering corrupted data and compression of archived files. Runs a DDNS client so that I have a URL tied to my home network. AD is hosted here and I tend to do any VM needs off of this system.
SRV-02
Aspire E5-573G
Ubuntu Server 20.04.4
8GB RAM
Intel i7-5500U @ 3.00GHz
Server only in name. This is just running off an old Acer laptop that I received for free. I’ve got the battery pulled out. It serves the only purpose of running Minecraft and Project Zomboid servers for a few users at a time and it does a great job at it.
Pi-Hole
Ubuntu Server 20.04.4
Virtualized Machine
pi-hole.net
Designated DNS of the network. Filters out over 230k domains from the network and on average blocks close to 30% of all requests. Serves as a basic DNS and holds DHCP responsibilities as well.
OpenVPN
Ubuntu Server 20.04.4
Virtualized Machine
openvpn.net
Gives me access back to my home network so that I can access storage shares and perform RDP/SSH connections with network services.
Docker-Master
Ubuntu Server 20.04.4
Virtualized Machine
This is just a basic Ubuntu Server instance that is there to run the anything docker related. Pretty straight forward.
Dashy
Ubuntu Server 20.04.4
Docker Container
dashy.to
This system presents a basic layout of information about the day, provides links to network and learning resources. This system also allows me to monitor all of my network services, includes their CPU history, MEM history, and Network Traffic.
Portainer
Ubuntu Server 20.04.4
Docker Container
portainer.io
Runs off of a machine dedicated to running docker containers and other docker related tasks. This gives me a bit easier of a time for managing my docker items and spinning up new machines as needed.
Bookstack
Ubuntu Server 20.04.4
Docker Container
bookstackapp.com
A database for myself to keep track of well…. everything you see around it as well as personal notes and guides.
NextCloud
Ubuntu Server 20.04.4
Docker Container
https://nextcloud.com/
500GB of ‘free’ ‘cloud’ storage off of my own network. Configured to work internally with pi-hole as a DNS redirecting and externally Cloudflare Tunneling through their Zero-Trust Suite.
